New Class Options

In addition to the standard classes found in the 5E source books and errata, there are some unique class options available in Avarath as well. These classes can easily fit into other campaign settings as well.

New Classes

Alchemist

Alchemists rely on potions and brewed concoctions to deal status and area effects. They excel at battlefield control, throwing down slippery goo or conjuring smoke clouds, throwing exploding vials of fire or shooting debilitating poison at a single foe. Thrown items, crossbows, and special vial launchers are their weapons of choice.

Death Warden

Part paladin, cleric, and ranger, death wardens are skilled hunters who make fiends and undead their primary targets, using a cleric-sized spell list, some paladin-like oath abilities, and a hunter's instincts to become a fearsome foe against devils, demons, undead, and other monsters that threaten the mortal world.

Elementalist

An elementalist is somebody who draws their power from the ancient primordial sources that gave birth to reality, and which still exist in the elemental planes. Like a warlock, an elementalist makes a pact with a powerful primordial or elemental creature, who grants the caster spells and abilities pertaining to their specific element.

Fighter - Dragoon

A dragoon is a new archetype for the fighter class, which allows a character to specialize in fighting with spears, halberds, and other pike or polearms weapons, and gives them unique mounted abilities, especially if they are riding airborne creatures. Dragoons favour heavy armour and two-handed reach weapons.

Fighter - Swashbuckler

Another new fighter archetype allows characters to excel as a fighter at sea. They have abilities tailored to life aboard a ship, including training in waterborne vessels and navigator's tools, and rely on dexterity and strength equally. Swashbucklers gain training in exotic weaponry, such as bolas and harpoons, and can use simple firearms as well.

Musketeer

Adept with light swords and a variety of firearms, musketeers are a new breed of adventurer for a new age. Fighting with a pistol in each hand, or a long rifle in hand and a sword at their hip, musketeers are adept skirmishers, weaving in and out of combat with fancy footwork and sharp reflexes. Musketeers can use any kind of firearm.

Ruachim

There are many breeds of monks, but there are none quite like the ruachim - an isolated order of eccentric practitioners who believe in the power of breathing as a weapon. The ruachim learn how to kill with a whisper or shatter walls with a mighty shout, needing no weapon other than their lungs and their voice. They can issue magical commands to stop foes in their place or inspire their allies with powerfully enhanced words.
